Chemical Structure
MCPA sodium
- CAS No.: 3653-48-3
- Formula:C9H8ClNaO3
- Molecular Weight:222.60
IUPAC Name: 2-(4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy)acetic acid, sodium salt
InChIKey: STAPBGVGYWCRTF-UHFFFAOYSA-M
SMILES: O=C(COC1=CC=C(C=C1C)Cl)O[Na]
Biological Activity: MCPA sodium is an orally active phenoxyacetic acid herbicide. MCPA sodium interferes with membrane integrity, energy metabolism (decreases ATP levels), and redox balance in plant cells. MCPA sodium increases hepatic cytochrome P-450 levels and increases aniline hydroxylase and 7-ethoxycoumarin O-deethylase activities. MCPA sodium can be used to control broadleaf weeds[1][2][3][4][5].
