Norsanguinarine is an intermediate in the biosynthetic process of sanguinarine-type alkaloids in poppy calli. Norsanguinarine is present in the whole plant of Eschscholtzia californica and calli of Papaver somniferum L. Norsanguinarine inhibits spore germination of Alternaria brassicicola and Curvularia maculans. Norsanguinarine can be used in studies related to plant pathogenic fungal infections[1][2].
