Biological Activity: Guanidine is a guanidine-containing compound with hypoglycemic activity, which can serve as a Drug Intermediate for synthesizing various guanidine-skeleton derivatives. Guanidine hydrochloride induces hypoglycemia in rabbits and causes symptoms identical to those of parathyroidectomy-induced tetany in rabbits. Guanicaine and its derivatives are applicable to diabetes-related research[1].
