IgG2B

Within mouse immunoglobulin G, IgG2b is the heavy-chain subclass notable for efficient classical-pathway complement activation together with engagement of activating Fc gamma receptors, activities that support opsonization, ADCC, and complement-mediated lysis. Mouse IgG2b antibodies are frequently chosen for in vivo functional studies and depletion protocols in which complement-dependent cytotoxicity is desired, and the subclass commonly serves as an isotype-matched control in flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. In antibody engineering, murine IgG2b Fc sequences also appear in chimeric and humanized constructs used to compare effector mechanisms across species-specific Fc formats in preclinical models.
