Integrin alpha E beta 7
Integrin alpha E beta 7 (CD103/beta-7) is encoded by ITGAE and expressed almost exclusively on T lymphocytes that reside within epithelia. Its defining ligand is E-cadherin on epithelial cells, an interaction that tethers intraepithelial lymphocytes and tissue-resident memory T cells to the gut, skin and airway epithelium. Expression of alpha E is induced by TGF-beta after T cells enter tissues, and the beta-7 chain it shares with alpha 4 beta 7 links mucosal immunity across both receptors. Alpha E beta 7 marks cytotoxic tissue-resident memory populations relevant to tumor immunity and chronic inflammation, and blocking CD103 or its signaling is being explored in celiac disease, graft-versus-host disease and inflammatory bowel disease.

The EpCAM/TROP1 protein serves as an important homogeneous interacting molecule that promotes direct contact between intestinal epithelial cells (IEC) and intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) in the mucosal epithelium. This feature helps establish an immune barrier against mucosal infections. EpCAM/TROP1 Protein, Human (His-SUMO) is the recombinant human-derived EpCAM/TROP1 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His, N-SUMO labeled tag.
