Reactive Red 24 (RR 24) is an anionic textile dye. Amine-modified wheat straw (MWS) was prepared by chemical modification of native wheat straw and removes the dye mainly through ion exchange; the Langmuir maximum adsorption capacity q_max of MWS for Reactive Red 24 at 55 °C is 285.7 mg/g^[1].
Reactive Red 24 can be used for the aqueous dyeing of cellulose fibers and cellulose/keratin composite hybrid fibers; the nucleophilic sites in keratin can provide additional reactive sites for dye binding^[2].
