DPPG ammonium
DPPG ammonium (1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoglycerol ammonium) is a phospholipid that contains long-chain (16:0) palmitic acid inserted at the sn-1 and sn-2 positions, and it serves as an active component to prevent BaP molecules from entering the water subphase. DPPG ammonium is used to prepare micelles, liposomes, and other types of artificial membranes that can resist damage from UV radiation.

Biological Activity
DPPG (UV radiation exposure) ammonium suffers cleavage of C-O, C=O and -PO2- bonds and loses monolayer stability; when DNA exists in the subphase, ionic degradation products from DPPG and DNA stabilize intact DPPG molecules and mitigate UV irradiation damage[3].
