In Vitro

Fmoc-Glu-OMe hydrogel exhibits measurable antibacterial activity against E. coli[1].
Fmoc-Glu-OMe hydrogel (FHAg-15) (FHAg-15 hydrogel at pH 6.0; 16 h) exhibits potent broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against E. coli, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) in vitro, as determined by the disk diffusion assay[2].
Fmoc-Glu-OMe hydrogel (FHAg-15) (FHAg-15 hydrogel; 24 h) potently inhibits biofilm formation of Staphylococcus aureus (to 7.6% of the control level) and Escherichia coli (to 29.8% of the control level) in vitro[2].
Fmoc-Glu-OMe hydrogel (FHAg-15) (pH 4.0-7.4; 24 h; 48 h) significantly promotes NIH-3 T3 cell migration and in vitro wound healing under pH 6.0 and 7.4 conditions[2].

In Vivo

Fmoc-Glu-OMe hydrogel (FHAg-10/15) (500 μL; topical administration) achieves a wound healing rate of 93.01% within 12 days; in a rat MRSA-infected full-thickness wound model, the FHAg-15 hydrogel prepared from Fmoc-Glu-OMe (500 μL; topical administration) achieves an MRSA clearance rate of 99.9% and a wound healing rate of 97.07% within 12 days[2].

Animal Model: Sprague Dawley (male, 180-220 g, MRSA-infected full-thickness wound model)[2]
Dosage: 500 μL FHAg-10 hydrogel (formulated with Fmoc-Glu-OMe, HEC, 10 mM AgNO3); 500 μL FHAg-15 hydrogel (formulated with Fmoc-Glu-OMe, HEC, 15 mM AgNO3)
Administration: topical
Result: Achieved a wound healing rate of 54.75% on day 6 and 93.01% on day 12 (FHAg-10 hydrogel).
Achieved a wound healing rate of 67.1% on day 6 and 97.07% on day 12, with visible scabbing (FHAg-15 hydrogel).
Achieved a 99.9% bacterial eradication rate against MRSA by day 6 (FHAg-15 hydrogel).
Showed only scattered inflammatory cells by day 6, and complete healing with skin tissue regeneration and no inflammatory cells by day 12 via histological analysis (FHAg-15 hydrogel).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
