As a humanized monoclonal antibody Fab fragment targeting HtrA1, Galegenimab binds to each subunit of the HtrA1 trimer with three independent Fabs to form a macromolecular complex, thereby inhibiting the protease activity of HtrA1 and blocking its proteolytic effect on extracellular matrix protein substrates such as biglycan[2].
