In Vitro
1-Hydroxy-ibuprofen (1-OH IBU) (50 μg/L; 24 h) is completely removed within 24 h in activated sludge batch experiments, but among the tested compounds (IBU, 2-OH IBU, CBX IBU), it exhibits the lowest biodegradation rate and the highest recalcitrance under conditions of 50 μg/L and 1000 mg/L TSS[2].
