mPEG-PCL

mPEG-PCL is an amphiphilic biodegradable block copolymer composed of hydrophilic methoxy poly (ethylene glycol) (mPEG) and hydrophobic poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL). mPEG-PCL possesses excellent biocompatibility and can form delivery carriers such as micelles and nanoparticles. Through its amphiphilic block structure, mPEG-PCL forms nanocarriers and encapsulates hydrophobic molecules, thereby enhancing the loading capacity of hydrophobic molecules, reducing burst release, and achieving sustained release. mPEG-PCL can be used in research on nanodelivery, tissue engineering, and ocular delivery systems related to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Blank mPEG-PCL micelles (0.001-20 μM; 24-48 h) exhibit excellent cytocompatibility when applied to ARPE-19 human retinal pigment epithelial cells, with cell viability higher than 88% at 24 h and higher than 95% at 48 h across all tested concentrations^[1].
mPEG-PCL (120°C) is a mPEG-PCL diblock copolymer prepared using mPEG as a macroinitiator via ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone at 120°C with stannous octoate or other metal-based catalysts^[2].
