Keratin azure
Keratin azure is a chromogenic substrate prepared by covalently conjugating keratin (e.g., α-keratin) with an azo dye (e.g., Remazol Brilliant Blue R), and it is widely used for the detection of keratinase activity in microorganisms (fungi, bacteria) as well as the qualitative/quantitative evaluation of keratin-degrading ability.
