Iocarmic acid (1.2 mL of 282 mg I/mL; intrathecal; single injection) induces severe arachnoiditis in macaque monkeys undergoing experimental myelography, with maximum myelographic scores and an average histologic score of 18, which is significantly higher than scores for comparator contrast media and controls^[1].
