Biological Activity
Metolachlor exhibits stronger residual persistence in subsurface (90-120 cm) Nicollet-Webster complex sandy loam (DT50 94-289 d) than in surface (0-30 cm) soil (DT50 50-182 d). Metolachlor undergoes accelerated degradation under saturated conditions in both soil layers, and elevated application dosages lower the proportion of soil-bound residues without inhibiting microbial activity[2].
Metolachlor relies on biodegradation for its dissipation in Nicollet-Webster complex sandy loam[2].
Metolachlor (9-900 μg/g; 8 d) does not inhibit microbial respiration in surface or subsurface Nicollet-Webster complex sandy clay loam[2].
