(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) is a blood-brain barrier-penetrant silver(III) corrole complex that penetrates the blood-brain barrier. (Mor-Cor)Ag(III) scavenges reactive oxygen species induced by Aβ42 and disrupts Aβ42 aggregation, attenuating Aβ42-induced neuronal hyperactivity. (Mor-Cor)Ag(III) can be used for the research of Alzheimer's disease.

Description

(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) is a blood-brain barrier-penetrant silver(III) corrole complex that penetrates the blood-brain barrier. (Mor-Cor)Ag(III) scavenges reactive oxygen species induced by Aβ42 and disrupts Aβ42 aggregation, attenuating Aβ42-induced neuronal hyperactivity. (Mor-Cor)Ag(III) can be used for the research of Alzheimer's disease[1].

In Vitro

(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) (1, 2 and 6 μM) is non-toxic to HT-22 mouse hippocampal cells at concentrations up to 6 μM, with 1-2 μM being optimal for neuroprotective effects[1].
(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) (2 μM) provides superior neuroprotection to primary rat neuron-astrocyte cultures against Aβ42-induced neurite fragmentation, gliosis, and neurotoxicity compared to (Cor)Ag(III)[1].
(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) (2 μM) attenuates Aβ1-42-induced hyperexcitability in primary rat cortical neurons[1].
(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) (2 μM) reduces neuronal death in primary rat neuron-astrocyte cultures exposed to Aβ42 oligomers[1].
(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) (2 μM) effectively reduces Aβ42-induced ROS levels in primary rat neuron-astrocyte cultures[1].

In Vivo

(Mor-Cor)Ag(III) (200 μg in 100μL; i.v.; single dose or daily for 7 days) provides neuroprotective effects in 3×Tg-AD mice, increasing dendritic density and reducing Aβ42 deposition[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: 3×Tg-AD (APPSwe, tauP301L) (3-6 months old)[1]
Dosage: 200 μg (24-h single dose; 7-day daily dose)
Administration: i.v.; single dose (24 h); daily (7 consecutive days)
Result: Increased dendritic density (measured by MAP2 intensity) in the cortex significantly after single 24-h treatment compared to vehicle; Enhanced MAP2 immunoreactivity in the cortex significantly after 7-day daily treatment; Reduced Aβ42 aggregation in both the hippocampus and cortex significantly after 7-day daily treatment.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
