Norgestomet is a synthetic 19-nortestosterone-derived progestin analog specifically used for estrus synchronization and reproductive regulation in cattle. Norgestomet reduces the incidence of short luteal phases in postpartum lactating beef cattle, enhances luteal function, and increases the pregnancy rate of timed breeding. Norgestomet suppresses estrus during embryo implantation, synchronizes the timing of estrus resumption, and improves the calving rate of first timed artificial insemination in pubertal beef heifers.

Norgestomet (3.0-6.0 mg; intramuscular injection, ear implant; retained for 9 days) increases the timed artificial insemination pregnancy rate to 14% in pre-synchronized, postpartum lactating beef cows with anestrus, and to 22% in pre-synchronized, postpartum lactating beef cows with normal estrous cycles[1].
Norgestomet (10 mg per administration; subcutaneous implantation in the ear; 2 administrations total; lasting 12 days) increases the calving rate of the first artificial insemination to 55%, synchronizes the estrous cycle of non-pregnant cows, and does not impair the luteal function of pregnant cows[2].
Norgestomet (3.6 mg; subcutaneous ear implant; for 12 consecutive days) increases the calving rate of the first artificial insemination to 45%, achieves complete estrus synchronization in non-pregnant cows, improves cumulative fertility in the early breeding season, and does not impair corpus luteum function in pregnant cows[2].
