ADAMTS16

ADAMTS16 is distinguished by an expression pattern centered on reproductive and endocrine tissues, including ovary, testis and adrenal gland. Profiling across developmental and physiological states has implicated the enzyme in fertility-related processes, and association studies have drawn links to reproductive traits. Like several relatives, it is secreted and expected to remodel extracellular-matrix substrates, although a definitive physiological substrate has not been confirmed. Its restricted tissue distribution sets ADAMTS16 apart from the cartilage and cardiovascular ADAMTS members, and recombinant ADAMTS16 is positioned as a reagent for reproductive endocrinology and gonadal biology research.
