CD103/Integrin alpha E beta 7
CD103 is the alpha E subunit of the beta-7 integrin family; together with beta-7 it forms alpha E beta 7, the receptor for epithelial E-cadherin. Expression is induced by TGF-beta on T cells that enter epithelial compartments, marking intraepithelial lymphocytes and tissue-resident memory T cells of the gut, skin and lung. By binding E-cadherin, the heterodimer retains these cells within the epithelium and participates in cytotoxic surveillance of infected or transformed epithelial cells. CD103 also serves as a diagnostic marker in hairy cell leukemia. Because tissue-resident T cells drive pathology in celiac disease, psoriasis and graft-versus-host disease, blocking the alpha E beta-7 axis is being evaluated in inflammatory and transplant settings.

The EpCAM/TROP1 protein serves as an important homogeneous interacting molecule that promotes direct contact between intestinal epithelial cells (IEC) and intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) in the mucosal epithelium. This feature helps establish an immune barrier against mucosal infections. EpCAM/TROP1 Protein, Human (His-SUMO) is the recombinant human-derived EpCAM/TROP1 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-6*His, N-SUMO labeled tag.
