CD191/CCR1

CD191, better known as CCR1 (CC chemokine receptor type 1), is a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor that binds inflammatory CC chemokines including CCL3 (MIP-1 alpha), CCL5 (RANTES), and CCL7. Coupling to Gi proteins, it triggers calcium flux, integrin activation, and directed migration of monocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophils into inflamed tissues. The receptor is expressed at high levels on circulating monocytes and is rapidly up-regulated on activated T cells. CCR1 signaling contributes to rheumatoid arthritis pathogenesis and tumor-associated inflammation, and selective CCR1 antagonists have been developed for inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. Recombinant CD191/CCR1 is widely used in ligand-binding assays and drug-screening studies.
