PDGF-CC
PDGF-CC is the mature, biologically active homodimer of the PDGF-C chain. Native PDGF-C is secreted in a latent CUB-domain-bearing form; recombinant PDGF-CC prepared in the activated state binds and activates PDGFR-alpha and PDGFR-alpha/beta to stimulate fibroblast and smooth-muscle cell proliferation, migration, and survival. It is a potent driver of experimental liver fibrosis and is upregulated in renal disease, making it both a research tool and a therapeutic target. Compared with PDGF-AA, PDGF-CC shows stronger mitogenic activity through alpha-receptor complexes. Recombinant PDGF-CC protein is used in fibrosis models, receptor-activation studies, and screening of PDGFR-alpha-directed kinase inhibitors.
