Description

Pyrromethene 567 is a commercially available BODIPY dye with a photodynamic cytotoxicity IC50 of 6.8 ± 1.8 μM.Pyrromethene 567 shows cytoplasmic localization and limited cellular uptake in cancer cells.Pyrromethene 567 can be used for the research of lung cancer[1].

In Vitro

Pyrromethene 567 exerts photodynamic cytotoxicity against human lung carcinoma A549 cells with an IC50 of 6.8 μM and shows no dark toxicity at concentrations up to 200 μM[1].
Pyrromethene 567 (1 μM; 0.5 h) localizes to the cytoplasm of human lung carcinoma A549 cells but exhibits lower cellular uptake than other tested BODIPY dyes[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Cytotoxicity Assay[1]

Cell Line: human lung carcinoma A549 cells
Concentration: 6.8 μM (photodynamic cytotoxicity); up to 200 μM (dark toxicity)
Incubation Time: 80 min photo-exposure, 24 h post-exposure incubation (photodynamic cytotoxicity); 48 h (dark toxicity)
Result: Exhibited photodynamic cytotoxicity against A549 cells with a growth inhibitory IC50 value of 6.8 μM.
Showed no dark toxicity at concentrations up to 200 μM.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
