Biological Activity
IFN-gamma Protein, human activates STAT signaling pathway and affects gene regulation. IFN-gamma Protein, human activates effector immune cells and enhances antigen presentation. IFN-gamma Protein, human also regulates the hematopoietic stem cells development. IFN-gamma Protein, human is the recombinant human-derived IFN-gamma Protein, expressed by E. coli.
Human Interferon-gamma (hIFNγ) is naturally produced by CD4+ T helper cell type 1 (Th1) lymphocytes, CD8+ cytotoxic lymphocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, B cells, NKT cells, and professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Secretion of hIFNγ by NK cells and APCs is important in early host reactions against infection while production of hIFNγ by T lymphocytes is important in the adaptive immune response. hIFNγ shows antiviral and antitumor activity and is involved in complex interactions of cellular metabolism and differentiation[1]. Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is a cytokine with potent immunomodulatory propertiy. IFN-γ activates cells via a different receptor than IFN-α and IFN-β, which accounts for the different physiological properties of the proteins[2].
IFN-gamma Protein (human, 0-1000 ng/mL, 12-18 h) induces IFN-γ-inducible protein-16 (IFI16) accumulation in A549 nucleus and cytoplasm[3].
IFN-gamma Protein (human, 100 ng/mL, 24 h) promotes the PD-L1 expression, activates PI3K/Akt and ERK1/2 signaling pathways, increases the CD44+/CD24- cell ratio, and enhances cell sphere formation ability. IFN-gamma Protein promotes the stemness of breast cancer cell MCF-7[4].
The ED50 is <1 ng/mL as measured by its ability to inhibit the proliferation of HT-29 cells., corresponding to a specific activity of >1 × 106 units/mg.
