N-acetyl-α-d-glucosamine 1-phosphate disodium (GlcNAc-1-P) is an ectopic sugar phosphate and a key intermediate in N-glycoprotein biosynthesis. N-acetyl-α-d-glucosamine 1-phosphate disodium serves as a metabolic precursor of teichoic acid and muramic acid, which are components of bacterial cell walls .

Targocil functions as a bacteriostatic inhibitor of wall teichoic acid (WTA) biosynthesis which can inhibit the growth of methicillin-susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) with MIC90s of 2 μg/ mL for both MRSA and MSSA.

Plusbacin A3 is a cyclic lipodepsipeptide isolated from Pseudomonas sp. PB-6250 that inhibits bacterial cell wall biosynthesis and disrupts membrane integrity. Plusbacin A3 binds lipid intermediates, blocking transglycosylation and lipid intermediate formation in peptidoglycan synthesis. Plusbacin A3 inhibits teichoic acid biosynthesis. Plusbacin A3 exhibits activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant Enterococci, with low susceptibility to resistance, and is inactive against Gram-negative bacteria. Plusbacin A3 can be used in research on bacterial infections .

Antimicrobial agent-56 is an antimicrobial agent that targets the cell membrane of drug-resistant bacteria. Antimicrobial agent-56 disrupts the cell membrane integrity of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) via membrane targeting, downregulates lipoteichoic acid biosynthesis and two-component system signaling, inhibits MRSA biofilm formation and eradicates mature biofilms, with a MIC of 6.25 μg/mL. Antimicrobial agent-56 hardly induces drug resistance, exhibits low hemolytic activity, inhibits NO production stimulated by LPS (HY-D1056), and retains the anti-inflammatory activity of Resveratrol (HY-16561). Antimicrobial agent-56 loaded in PVA-SA hydrogel promotes the healing of MRSA-infected wounds and suppresses inflammation. Antimicrobial agent-56 can be used in studies related to MRSA infections .
