TBZ-15 is an orally active competitive Chitinase inhibitor and Insecticide, with an IC50 of 1.00 μM against Ostrinia furnacalis Chitinase-h and an IC50 of 1.01 μM against Ostrinia furnacalis Chitinase-I. TBZ-15 exhibits insecticidal activity against the Asian corn borer (O. furnacalis) and the diamondback moth (P. xylostella)[1].

In Vitro

TBZ-15 (0.36-10 μM; 10 min preincubation, 20 min incubation with substrate) potently acts as a competitive dual inhibitor of purified Ostrinia furnacalis Of Chi-h (Ki = 0.64 μM) and Of ChtI (Ki = 0.43 μM) enzymes, with IC50 values of 1.00 μM and 1.01 μM, respectively[1].

In Vivo

TBZ-15 (10 μM; incorporated into artificial diet; continuous feeding; 6 days) inhibits O. furnacalis larval growth by reducing body weight by 33% and body length by 23%, and induces abnormal cuticular development after 6 days of continuous feeding[1].
