Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78)
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) is a superantigen exotoxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus. Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) binds to TCR and MHC II outside the antigen-presenting site, thereby inducing unconventional polyclonal lymphocyte activation, excessive cytokine production, rapid shock, multiple organ failure syndrome and even death. Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) exacerbates mammary gland inflammation and further induces mastitis. Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) is thermostable and can be transmitted to humans via food, causing toxic shock syndrome. Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) can be used in studies related to toxic shock syndrome and staphylococcal food poisoning.

Description
In Vitro
Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) binds to the regions outside the canonical antigen-binding pockets of MHC II and TCR in a non-competitive allosteric manner, non-specifically activates the total T cell population, overactivates the NF-κB signaling cascade, and releases large amounts of proinflammatory cytokines; this toxin exhibits only typical superantigen activity in all relevant in vitro functional assays[1][2].
Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) can penetrate the vaginal mucosal barrier and initiate a local inflammatory cascade in vaginal epithelial cell models[1].
Toxic Shock Syndrome Toxin-1 (TSST-1) (58-78) retains an intact protein structure after standard pasteurization, and exacerbates the inflammatory phenotype in a milk-fermented mammary epithelial cell culture system[2].
