Description

1,3-Dimethoxybenzene (Resorcinol dimethyl ether) is a volatile compound with a sweet medicinal odour carrying hazelnut, resinous, and woody notes. 1,3-Dimethoxybenzene is identified as a new volatile component of Douro region grape musts and port wines[1].

In Vitro

1,3-Dimethoxybenzene possesses sweet medicinal, hazelnut, resinous and woody aromas[1].
1,3-Dimethoxybenzene can be isolated from grape juice and Port wine produced in the Douro River region. Its maximum content reaches up to 19.4 μg/L in 1999 vintage Port wine, 3 μg/L in 1998 vintage Port wine, 5.1 μg/L in 2000 vintage fortified Port wine, and 11 μg/L in 1998 vintage grape juice[1].
1,3-Dimethoxybenzene can be isolated from port wine extracts by flash chromatography, and is primarily eluted in the 60% hexane/40% diethyl ether fraction[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
