5-Bromonicotinic acid
Based on 1 Customer Validation
5-Bromonicotinic acid is a brominated pyridinecarboxylic acid derivative of nicotinic acid, which serves as a pharmaceutical intermediate for organic synthesis-related research. 5-Bromonicotinic acid can form metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with cadmium (II), cobalt (II) and lanthanide (III) salts.

Biological Activity
5-Bromonicotinic acid undergoes hydrothermal reactions with cadmium chloride or cobalt chloride to form three-dimensional metal-organic frameworks [Cd (5-BrNic)2]n (compound 1) and [Co (5-BrNic)2 (H2O)]n (compound 2) with yields of 70% and 45%, respectively[1].
5-Bromonicotinic acid (0.24 mmol) serves as a versatile linker that forms four lanthanide III coordination complexes with lanthanide III ions, which feature distinct structures (mononuclear, ionic, one-dimensional chain) and coordination modes, including chelation, monodentate, and bridging interactions[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
