AS3580239 promotes acetylcholine (ACh) signaling via m-nAChR, causing a leftward shift of the ACh concentration-response curve. AS3580239 enhances electrically stimulated isometric contraction of the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscle. AS3580239 improves neurotransmission and enhances muscle strength. AS3580239 (1-10 μM) acts as a positive allosteric modulator of skeletal muscle-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in differentiated Hu5/KD3 human myotubes, reducing the EC₅₀ of ACh by 14.0-fold at 10 μM without inducing currents on its own, and its effects are blocked by the acetylcholine receptor antagonist tubocurarine^[1].
