Nicotinohydrazide-derived hydrazones (0.031-0.500 mg/mL; bacteria incubated at 37 °C for 24 h, fungi incubated at 30 °C for 1-7 days) possess broad-spectrum in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities, produce inhibition zones of 22-28 mm against most tested pathogens except Salmonella typhi, reach a minimum MIC of 0.063 mg/mL against drug-resistant strains such as MRSA and VRE, and have a minimum MBC/MFC as low as 0.125 mg/mL[1].
