Tyrocidine A is an amphipathic cyclic decapeptide natural product, as well as a membrane-disrupting agent and an antibacterial agent. Tyrocidine A exhibits moderate activity against Gram-positive bacteria. Tyrocidine A (overnight treatment) exhibits moderate antibacterial activity against Gram-positive strains (MIC 16-32 μg/mL) at a calcium ion concentration of 25 mg/L, while it shows no activity against Gram-negative E. coli ATCC 25922 (MIC >128 μg/mL); its activity decreases moderately at a calcium ion concentration of 50 mg/L^[1].
