SMILES: CCCCC(COC(CCCCC(OCC(CCCC)CC)=O)=O)CC
Biological Activity: Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (NSC 56775) is an aliphatic plasticizer with certain toxicity. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate is a rodent hepatic peroxisome proliferator that dose-dependently increases relative liver weight in rodents, upregulates palmitoyl-CoA oxidase (PCO) activity, and induces hepatocyte hypertrophy and glycogen loss. Long-term exposure to Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate induces hepatocellular tumors in B6C3F1 mice. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate induces maternal gestational toxicity and reduced offspring birth weight in a prenatal-postnatal exposure Wistar rat model. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate can be used in metabolism-related research and organic synthesis-related research[1][2][3].
