Histargin
Histargin is a selective carboxypeptidase B inhibitor with an IC50 of 17 μg/mL and a Ki of 30 μM. Histargin exerts competitive inhibition with substrate, with inhibitory activity abolished by metal cations. Histargin shows no significant inhibitory activity against carboxypeptidase A, aminopeptidase A, or aminopeptidase B.

carboxypeptidase B 17 μg/mL (IC50) |
carboxypeptidase B 30 μM (Ki) |
Histargin monohydrate (30 min) potently and competitively inhibits purified bovine carboxypeptidase B with an IC50 of 17 μg/mL and a Ki of 3.2 × 10-5 M, and this inhibitory activity is dependent on metal chelation, being blocked by specific divalent metal cations[1].
Histargin does not inhibit purified carboxypeptidase A, aminopeptidase A (IC50 >100 μg/mL)[1].
Histargin lacks antimicrobial activity at 100 μg/mL[1].
