Polystyrene sulfonic acid (30% in water)
Based on 1 publication(s) in Google Scholar
Polystyrene sulfonic acid (30% in water) is a potentially toxic hazardous substance. Polystyrene-derived microplastics (PS-MPs) are harmful to zebrafish hearts and induce male reproductive toxicity in mice. MCE offers Polystyrene products in solution packaging.

Activité biologique
Polystyrene sulfonic acid-derived microplastics (PS-MPs) at 0.5 μm, 4 μm, and 10 μm particle sizes can enter three testicular cell lines (GC-1 cell line) in vitro. PS-MPs lead to decreased sperm quality and testosterone levels in mice[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
Polystyrene sulfonic acid (PS-MPs' particle sizes of 4 μm and 10 μm; p.o.; 24 h) resultsPS-MPs accumulated in the testis of mice, and (PS-MPs, particle sizes of 4 μm and 10 μm; p.o.; 28 d) induces spermatogenic cells abscissed and arranged disorderly, and multinucleated gonocytes occurred in the seminiferous tubule[2].
Polystyrene sulfonic acid (PS-MPs' particle sizes of 0.5 μm, 4 μm and 10 μm; p.o.; 28 d) induces testicular inflammation and the disruption of blood-testis barrier in mice[2].
