Cys-CPP44
Cys-CPP44 is a cell-penetrating peptide with a Cys introduced at the N-terminus, which can specifically penetrate hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Modification with Cys-CPP44 promotes the specific penetration of arsenic trioxide-loaded liposomes into hepatocellular carcinoma cells and enhances the cellular uptake of liposomes by these cells. Cys-CPP44 can be used for the research of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Biological Activity
Cys-CPP44 forms DSPE-PEG-MAL-CPP44 conjugate whose successful synthesis is verified by MALDI-TOF-MS at m/z = 5042.349[1].
Cys-CPP44 significantly elevates the uptake efficiency of modified liposomes (CPP44-Lp) in HepG2 cells compared with unmodified liposomes[1].
Cys-CPP44-modified ATO liposomes (CPP44-ATO-Lp) significantly reduce the viability of HepG2 cells compared with free ATO and unmodified ATO-Lp; after incubation with 0.05 μM ATO for 24 h, the total apoptosis rate of HepG2 cells reaches 25.48%[1].

Cys-CPP44 paired with anti-GPC3 antibody constructs dual-ligand liposomes (1 mg/kg; intravenous injection; single administration), which display enhanced tumour-targeted accumulation and prolonged retention in orthotopic hepatocellular carcinoma tumours of BALB/c nu/nu mice, with 1.43-fold higher tumour fluorescence intensity at 24 h post-administration relative to unmodified liposomes[1].
