Metproxybicyclone

Metproxybicyclone is a graminaceous herbicide. Metproxybicyclone also acts as an ACCase inhibitor, with an IC₅₀ of 0.19 μM against Lolium multiflorum. Metproxybicyclone inhibits eukaryotic homomeric acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which catalyzes the first key step in fatty acid biosynthesis of graminaceous plants. Metproxybicyclone controls susceptible graminaceous weeds as well as graminaceous weed populations with target-site, non-target-site, and ACCase^D2078G target-site resistance mechanisms. Metproxybicyclone is safe to dicotyledonous crops and is suitable for pre-plant burndown applications.

Metproxybicyclone acid (compound 27) (5 min pre-incubation; 20 min reaction) exhibits concentration-dependent inhibition in the recombinant Lolium multiflorum chloroplast ACCase biochemical assay, with an IC₅₀ of 0.19 μM^[1].

In Vivo

Metproxybicyclone (compound 27) (15-250 g ai/ha; foliar spray; 2-leaf stage; assessment after 14 days) causes no visible damage to soybean and sugar beet at all tested doses in whole-plant greenhouse experiments; at 15 g ai/ha, it causes 95%, 93%, 90% and 93% damage to E. indica, E. crus-galli, D. sanguinalis and L. perenne, respectively. A 100% damage rate is achieved for all four grass weeds at 30 g ai/ha, while the overall control of broadleaf weeds is weak^[1].
Metproxybicyclone (30-250 g ai/ha; foliar spray; 3-leaf stage; assessment after 14 days) causes 0% to 5% injury to soybean at rates of 30 g ai/ha and 250 g ai/ha, respectively. At 30 g ai/ha, it provides 99-100% control of Brachiaria plantaginea, E. indica, D. insularis, E. crus-galli, Setaria faberi, and volunteer corn, but exhibits weak activity against three broadleaf weed species^[1].
