Biological Activity
Guide (The following is our recommended protocol, which is provided as a guide only and should be modified to suit your specific needs).
1. Preparation of Dye Stock Solution[1]
1) Weigh an appropriate amount of Direct Blue-86.
2) Dissolve it in 100 mL of distilled water.
3) Transfer the solution to a 1000-mL volumetric flask and make up to the mark with distilled water to obtain a stock solution with a concentration of 1.0 g/L.
2. Preparation of Dye Working Solutions
1) Take aliquots of the 1.0 g/L stock solution.
2) Dilute them with distilled water to prepare working solutions with concentrations ranging from 5 to 100 mg/L according to the experimental requirements.
3. Specific Adsorption Steps (Effect of pH on Adsorption)
1) Prepare a series of solutions with initial pH values adjusted from 1 to 9 using 0.1 M HCl or 0.1 M NaOH.
2) Add 6 g/L of activated carbon prepared from orange peel (COP) to each solution containing 5-100 mg/L of Direct Blue-86.
3) Shake the suspensions at room temperature 25°C with an agitation speed of 200 rpm for 180 min, which is the minimum contact time required to reach equilibrium.
4) Determine the amount of Direct Blue-86 adsorbed.
