DL-Polylactic acid
DL-Poly (lactic acid) is a biodegradable poly (α-hydroxy acid) matrix and a coating material for controlled drug release. DL-Poly (lactic acid) is classified as a drug release retardant, which degrades into natural lactic acid monomers, an intermediate product of carbohydrate metabolism, enabling complete drug delivery that lasts for several weeks. Its drug release rate is affected by the pH of the surrounding environment.

Biological Activity
DL-poly (lactic acid) matrix tablets achieve complete release of Diclofenac Sodium (HY-15037) within 40 days (with faster release under pH 7.4 conditions), and partial to near-complete release of Propranolol (HY-B0573B) within 60 days (with accelerated release after 35 days under pH 5.4 conditions) via a mechanism combining diffusion and polymer degradation[1].
DL-Poly (lactic acid)-coated microcapsules can retard the release of Cyclazocine[2].
