Fluorescent Brightener 28  (Synonyms: Calcofluor White M2R)

Cat. No.: HY-D0367 Purity: 93.20%
Handling Instructions Technical Support

Fluorescent brightener 28 is a fluorescent whitening agent commonly used in the padding process of the textile industry. Fluorescent brightener 28 is capable of staining polysaccharides such as cellulose, and when the plasma membrane ruptures, it also weakly stains the cytoplasm and strongly stains the cell nucleus. Additionally, Fluorescent brightener 28 can be utilized to detect intracellular chitin in living cells. Fluorescent Brightener 28 also is a visible light emitting diode (LED)-light sensitive photoinitiator for free radical photopolymerizations.

Description

Fluorescent brightener 28 is a fluorescent whitening agent commonly used in the padding process of the textile industry. Fluorescent brightener 28 is capable of staining polysaccharides such as cellulose, and when the plasma membrane ruptures, it also weakly stains the cytoplasm and strongly stains the cell nucleus. Additionally, Fluorescent brightener 28 can be utilized to detect intracellular chitin in living cells. Fluorescent Brightener 28 also is a visible light emitting diode (LED)-light sensitive photoinitiator for free radical photopolymerizations[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Fluorescent Brightener 28 (8.1%) stains nuclei in pupal wing epithelial tissues (blue)[2].
Fluorescent Brightener 28-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles shows a strong fluorescence maximum (λ max) at 435 nm[4].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
