ZEB2 - zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 2 Gene

Also Known as SIP1; SIP-1; ZFHX1B; HSPC082; SMADIP1

Species: Homo sapiens

Gene Type: protein coding
Gene ID: 9839

About ZEB2

Cytogenetic location: 2q22.3 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 2:144,384,081-144,520,119 (from NCBI)

This gene has 50 transcripts (splice variants), 214 orthologues, 1 paralogue and is associated with 4 phenotypes. Ubiquitous expression in brain (RPKM 13.4), appendix (RPKM 10.2) and 23 other tissues.

Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the Zfh1 family of 2-handed zinc finger/homeodomain proteins. It is located in the nucleus and functions as a DNA-binding transcriptional repressor that interacts with activated SMADs. Mutations in this gene are associated with Hirschsprung disease/Mowat-Wilson syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]
