FlAsH-EDT2 is a protein labeling reagent. FlAsH-EDT2 binds to Cys4 with high affinity and emits fluorescence. FlAsH-EDT2 can cross the cell membrane and enter the interior of the cell. FlAsH-EDT2 can only be used for labeling proteins with high concentration.

FlAsH-EDT2 binds to tetracysteine motif (CCXXCC, also called "Cys4"), causes the structure change of FlAsH-EDT2, allowing the absorption of light with specific wavelength and the fluorescence emission[1].
FlAsH-EDT2 also binds to non-specific cysteine-rich intracellular proteins, resulting in background fluorescence as false positive results. FlAsH-EDT2 is suggested to label recombinant proteins with high expression levels[1].
