Biological Activity
Ferrioxamine E induces precocious aerial growth in Streptomyces griseus st-21-2 and Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2).Ferrioxamine E stimulates yellow pigment, antibiotic production, aerial mycelium formation, melanin-like pigment production, and growth in various soil-isolated actinomycete strains.Ferrioxamine E rescues impaired growth, morphological development, and pigment production in desferrioxamine biosynthesis-deficient Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) mutant (KY1) on Bennett’s/glucose solid medium[1].
