Low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) is a transmembrane protein on the cell surface responsible for recognizing and binding to low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in the blood, mediating the endocytosis of cholesterol, and is a key receptor for regulating plasma cholesterol levels. Abnormal expression of LLR is closely related to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.
