Description

Oxathiapiprolin is an anti-phytopathogenic oomycete agent. Oxathiapiprolin inhibits mycelial growth, sporangium production, zoospore release and zoospore motility in specific oomycetes. Oxathiapiprolin exhibits both protective and therapeutic activities against Phytophthora capsici infection in pepper plants. Oxathiapiprolin can be used in studies related to plant diseases[1].

In Vitro

Oxathiapiprolin (0-5 days) potently inhibits mycelial growth of Phytophthora capsici, with an EC50 value of 6.78 × 10-4 μg/mL[1].
Oxathiapiprolin (0-48 h) potently inhibits sporangium production by Phytophthora capsici, with an EC50 of 1.29 × 10-5 μg/mL[1].
Oxathiapiprolin (0-10 μg/mL; 1 h) inhibits zoospore release in Phytophthora capsici, with an EC50 value of 4.38 μg/mL[1].
Oxathiapiprolin (1-10 μg/mL; 10 min) inhibits the motility of Phytophthora capsici zoospores at concentrations of 1 μg/mL and above[1].
Oxathiapiprolin (0-8 days) potently inhibits mycelial development of Pseudoperonospora cubensis, with an EC50 value of 3.10 × 10-4 μg/mL[1].
Oxathiapiprolin inhibits zoospore release of Pseudoperonospora cubensis, with an EC50 value of 0.13 μg/mL[1].

In Vivo

Oxathiapiprolin (20-30 g/ha; foliar spray) exhibits dose-dependent protective and curative activities against Phytophthora blight of pepper under greenhouse conditions[1].
Oxathiapiprolin (20-40 g active ingredient per hectare; spray application; 2 applications per growing season) exhibits a dose-dependent control efficacy against naturally occurring Phytophthora blight of pepper under field conditions[1].

Animal Model: Capsicum annuum, cv. Xichengdaniujiao (four-leaf stage; greenhouse-grown; inoculated via soil drench with Phytophthora capsici zoospore suspension)[1]
Dosage: 20 g/ha; 30 g/ha
Administration: spray; protective (24h pre-inoculation); curative (24h post-inoculation)
Result: Reduced disease severity to 0.22 and achieved 70.06% control efficacy at 20 g/ha (protective application).
Reduced disease severity to 0.11 and achieved 85.66% control efficacy at 30 g/ha (protective application).
Reduced disease severity to 0.43 and achieved 42.29% control efficacy at 20 g/ha (curative application).
Reduced disease severity to 0.23 and achieved 69.50% control efficacy at 30 g/ha (curative application).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
