PIP4K2C

null PIP4K2C (PI5P4Kγ) is the least studied of the three type 2 phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinases. It shares the catalytic PIPK fold and the substrate preference for PI5P with PIP4K2A and PIP4K2B, converting PI5P into PI(4,5)P2 and thereby shaping PI5P-regulated pathways, but it shows a more restricted tissue distribution and generally lower expression. Reports place PIP4K2C in control of cell-cycle progression and proliferation, and, like its paralogs, it may act as a modulator of mTOR signaling and insulin responses. The comparatively sparse data on PIP4K2C make recombinant protein a useful reagent for biochemical characterization.
