Description

Shearinine B ((+)-Shearinine B) is an indole-diterpenoid alkaloid that can be found in the marine-derived fungus Penicillium janthinellum Biourge and Eupenicillium shearii. Shearinine B causes mortality in fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda and reduces growth rate of Helicoverpa zea larvae[1][2].

In Vitro

Shearinine B (100 ppm) causes a 94% reduction in growth rate of Helicoverpa zea larvae[2].

Shearinine B (100 ppm) causes a 50% reduction in feeding rate of Carpophilus hemipterus larvae[2].
Shearinine B (50 μg per 75-mg cotton leaf disk; topical application to leaf disk) causes 84% mortality and 85% reduction in leaf damage in Spodoptera frugiperda larvae[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
