Tetramethylfluthrin is an insecticide with potent activity against Aedes albopictus. Tetramethylfluthrin contributes to rapid Aedes albopictus population reduction when deployed via unmanned aerial vehicle cold mist spray. Tetramethylfluthrin exerts a knock-down effect and exhibits high toxicity to target insects. Tetramethylfluthrin can be used for the research of dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever[1].

In Vivo

Tetramethylfluthrin (0.9-1.8 mg/m2; UAV-mounted cold mist spray) achieves greater than 90% reduction in Aedes albopictus populations within 25 minutes at 1.8 mg/m2, with 79.8% reduction in total adults and 100% reduction in males at 1 day posttreatment, and sustained partial suppression for at least 2 days; at 0.9 mg/m2, reduced female abundance by 66.9% at 1 day with recovery by 2 days[1].
