Turonicin A
Turonicin A is an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent found in Australian Streptomyces sp. MST-123921. Turonicin A inhibits growth of Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae fungi. Turonicin A inhibits growth of Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Turonicin A can be used for the research of fungal infections, bacterial infections.

In Vitro
Turonicin A (48 h) exhibits moderate antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis (MIC 0.097 μg/mL, 85 nM) and Staphylococcus aureus (MIC 0.39 μg/mL, 340 nM)[1].
Turonicin A (48 h) exhibits very potent antifungal activity against Candida albicans (MIC 0.0031 μg/mL, 2.7 nM) and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (MIC 0.0008 μg/mL, 0.7 nM)[1].
Turonicin A (96 h) exhibits low cytotoxicity against NS-1 murine myeloma cells (IC50 44 μM) and no cytotoxicity against NFF neonatal foreskin fibroblasts up to >80 μM[1].
Turonicin A (72 h) shows no herbicidal activity against Eragrostis tef seed germination up to >100 μg/mL[1].
