4-Fluororesorcinol
Based on 1 Customer Validation
4‑Fluororesorcinol is a class of fluorinated resorcinol aromatic small molecules that participates in fluorescence-generating chemical reactions under alkaline conditions. 4‑Fluororesorcinol undergoes a fluorescence-generating reaction with dopamine in an alkaline aqueous solution system to produce an azacyclooctane derivative that emits blue fluorescence. 4‑Fluororesorcinol serves as a building block for fluorescent dyes.

Biological Activity
4-Fluororesorcinol can be synthesized from 5-nitro-1,2,4-trifluorobenzene via four consecutive reactions; it reacts with phthalic anhydride in methanesulfonic acid to form 2′,7′-difluorofluorescein; it reacts with trimellitic anhydride in methanesulfonic acid to form 5 (6)-carboxy-2′,7′-difluorofluorescein; and it reacts with tetrafluorophthalic anhydride in methanesulfonic acid to form 2′,4,5,6,7,7′-hexafluorofluorescein[1].
4‑Fluororesorcinol reacts with dopamine to produce a blue fluorescent product (excitation wavelength 416 nm, emission wavelength 461 nm); the fluorescence intensity of the product reaches its maximum when the concentration of 4‑Fluororesorcinol is 150 µM with incubation for 30 min. Under this condition, a fluorescent probe can be constructed to achieve selective "turn-off" detection of tetracycline[2].
4-Fluororesorcinol efficiently generates the triarylmethane precursor of 4-Carboxy-pennsylvania green (HY-D1205), which can be converted into the target fluorophore via cyclization and hydrolysis[3].
