Description

Calcein tetraethyl ester is a tetraethylated derivative of calcein, with its core function serving as a live cell-specific fluorescent tracer. Calcein tetraethyl ester can diffuse between human periodontal ligament cells via gap junctions, thus enabling the evaluation of gap junction intercellular communication function, and its diffusion is enhanced under hydrogen peroxide induction. Calcein tetraethyl ester can be applied in the fields of cell biology and fluorescent labeling[1].

In Vitro

Calcein tetraethyl ester (5 μM; 30 min) assays show that hydrogen peroxide treatment significantly increases the number of recipient cells labeled by Calcein tetraethyl ester, confirming that the expression level of Cx43 is positively correlated with gap junction intercellular communication[1].
