FOXC2

FOXC2 is a transcription factors belonging to FOXC family. FOXC2 is a key regulator of adipocyte metabolism, skeletal tissue development, lymphangiogenesis, and lung maturation. FOXC2 is also required for maintaining murine spermatogonial stem cells. Elevated expression of FOXC2 occur in a variety of cancers such as breast carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinomas, lymphoma and so on. FOXC2 promotes cancers through mediating cell proliferation, metastasis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. Mutations in the DNA binding domain of FOXC2 have also been reported to cause Lymphoedema distichiasis syndrome (LDS), an inherited primary lymphedema. In addition, FOXC1 and FOXC2 cooperatively control developmental processes such as cardiovascular, renal and somite development[1].

MC-1-F2 is a FOXC2 inhibitor. MC-1-F2 shows a binding affinity (Kd) of 26 μM for full-length FOXC2. MC-1-F2 reduces epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers in breast cancer cells, suppresses cancer stem cell (CSC) properties and reduces invasiveness in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells. MC-1-F2 can be used for the study of CRPC and breast cancer.
